Instinct, a trending AI assistant currently valued at $2.5 billion, has launched a capability enabling it to take on expanded tasks for users: providing each person with a dedicated Instinct email address.
Noah Shinn, the company’s founder, announced Tuesday that these custom email addresses empower the AI agent to establish and manage independent accounts, keeping users’ primary inboxes free of spam and clutter.
According to Shinn, the primary objective is to grant Instinct the ability to register and oversee accounts whenever necessary to carry out email-dependent duties, such as signing up for platforms, reaching out to vendors, and managing required follow-ups.
“As an example, Instinct can utilize its own address to reach out to a dining spot regarding special accommodations, check a company’s schedule, or register for an application required to fulfill your request,” Shinn shared on X.
This update promises a smoother experience for users, eliminating the need for manual sign-ins or personal credential sharing. (Instinct recently teamed up with 1Password to handle authentication securely.)
While businesses striving to foster direct customer relationships might find AI-driven account management frustratingly anonymous, consumers may welcome it as a privacy win. Many users are increasingly reluctant to hand over personal email addresses and phone numbers for minor, one-time interactions.
Instinct noted that specific email handles have been set aside for early adopters, while the general public can claim an address at mail.instinct.com.
Additionally, Shinn pointed out that users can forward relevant emails directly to Instinct when context is required for a job. For instance, if someone needs help returning a purchase, they can forward the order confirmation email. Instinct will then interact with customer service, supply order details, clarify whether a refund or exchange is preferred, and deliver a printable return label back to the user.
Users can also invite Instinct’s email to group discussions to monitor updates, or forward lengthy message threads to query the assistant on upcoming deadlines, pending decisions, or essential takeaways.
Though the assistant operates independently for most tasks, it will prompt the user whenever explicit decisions or approvals are needed.
This launch comes alongside a series of recent enhancements designed to expand Instinct’s functionality. Beyond the 1Password integration for managing existing user accounts, Instinct recently introduced location-aware capabilities. This feature allows the assistant to identify a user’s location to recommend local spots, plan travel routes, or answer queries about past visits, such as where a car was parked or where they dined recently.
Furthermore, Instinct collaborated with Stripe back in August to streamline transactions, allowing the AI to directly handle purchases, schedule appointments, and book travel or classes.
