Apple’s revamped Health app will calculate your ‘health age’ and readiness score

In addition to unveiling the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, Apple on Wednesday showcased an overhauled Apple Health application powered by Apple Intelligence to help users gain deeper insights from their personal health metrics. The revamp introduces a dedicated Insights section featuring up-to-date summaries, tailored health recommendations, interactive assessments, a daily “readiness” index, and an estimated “Health Age.”

This Health Age feature compares your biological metrics against your chronological age, evaluating key indicators such as VO2 max levels, sleep patterns, physical activity, and blood biomarker measurements.

The update also debuts a Longevity feature that synthesizes data gathered from your iPhone and Apple Watch to track sleep quality, mobility, cardiovascular wellness, and overall vitality. Users can seamlessly integrate blood work results into these insights; to support this, Apple partnered with Quest to offer a comprehensive 50-biomarker lab test for $119, enabling direct access to crucial clinical data.

By leveraging Apple Intelligence, the Health app enhances how disparate wellness points are connected, feeding directly into tools like the Insights feed and readiness metric. For example, the software might advise adding interval training to a routine morning jog to boost cardiovascular performance. Apple noted that the app will offer substantially richer analytics around workout performance and heart health.

Additionally, the upgraded app provides thorough mobility evaluations designed to assist seniors or individuals rehabilitating from injuries. During these mobility checks, digital instructors provide step-by-step guidance for exercise demonstrations, offering an experience Apple describes as akin to working directly with a personal trainer.

The refreshed Health app will be launched later this year, initially supporting U.S. English.
