Instagram is introducing a handy update that grants users greater control over their profile layout. Effective today, posts where you’ve been tagged can now be pinned directly onto your main profile grid.
Although it might seem like a subtle tweak, it addresses a common scenario many users face. We’ve all returned from a trip, night out, or concert, only to find a friend has already posted the top group shot—tagging us before we had a chance to share it ourselves.
Re-uploading the exact same picture can feel redundant, which is why Instagram developed a seamless workaround.
Now, you can pin a tagged picture to your grid straight from the DM alert, directly from the post itself, or via your profile’s Tagged section. If you ever change your mind, taking it off your main feed is quick and straightforward.
The original upload remains completely untouched throughout the process. Displaying it on your grid won’t create a duplicate post or erase the source image, and removing it from your profile keeps it safely intact within your Tagged tab.
Instagram notes that this capability is particularly beneficial for creator partnerships. It offers influencers a way to display tagged content without needing to repost duplicate media or rely on the “Invite collaborators” prompt. Additionally, brands running multi-creator initiatives can easily feature joint campaigns across everyone’s individual profile feeds.
This enhancement aligns with Instagram’s ongoing initiative to grant people finer control over their profile aesthetics. Earlier in June, the platform launched the “Reorder your grid” tool, which empowers users to customize the layout of their published posts.
Beyond layout customization, Instagram has been rolling out tools designed to streamline content generation and management. A notable recent launch is “First Draft,” an automated editing function that cuts quiet pauses and trims clips to curate a rough draft of highlights.
Furthermore, the platform recently rolled out a “Replace Audio” option, giving creators the freedom to swap out soundtrack tracks on published posts at any point.
